Charles Taylor, Jewel Taylor and George Waeah
John T. Richardson, Cyril Allen and Jewel Taylor: What do they have in Common? Richardson was National Security Advisor to Charles Taylor; Cyril Allen was Secretary General of the National Patriotic Party, and Jewel Taylor is the loyal wife of the mercurial rebel dictator turned President of Liberia.
As he boarded his plane for exile to Nigeria in 2003--thanks to US President George Bush---a disjointed Charles Taylor warned, "God's willing I will be back." Charles Taylor has some score settling to do against those he felt that sold him out to the West. And whether confined to a British jail for life, he has the long reach to exact revenge on his sellouts, backstabbers and political enemies, and the financial resources to follow through.
Therefore when the man who prosecuted him, Alan White warned last month on VOA that presidential frontrunner George Weah was in contact with the jailed former dictator to have his wife Jewel be his Vice Presidential running mate abd would flush him with enough money to run his campaign, the Weah disciples shouted and called White a sinner, a liar.
Then a month later, John Richardson retorted this about Weah and his followers while calling Alan White "racist": "Oh no, they are denying it? How stupid can they be? What is wrong with talking to Charles Taylor? You will be a fool to think you could President of this country if you don't ask Charles Taylor how he did it. And people are sitting around talking about they are shame (to admit it.)," said Richardson.
"And now here coming out of the woodworks is the blunt talking NPP former Secretary General to affirm part of the Taylor prophecy about promised return of Taylor the Messiah. Cyril Allen says this about the George Weah-Jewel Taylor combo: "Well, they should bring the Taylor regime back; it's nothing wrong with it. It is part of the political process and the (ugly) political history of Liberia. I don't see nothing (anything) wrong with that. The NPP is a political party united under a coalition (and) if there is a victory, don’t you think the NPP should be part of the governing process of Liberia?," Allen asked.
It is suffice to suggest therefore that this nee political marriage between Weah and Jewel Taylor is all part of the Grand Master Plan of Taylor's promised return. And should Weah win, the question becomes will the PLAN include him to its full execution, or is he simply a tool toward the Taylor objective?
Mr. George Weah is slowly swallowing a political poison that he may not be able survive. Charles Taylor's henchmen are capable of neutralizing Weah, based on their record in both the NPFL/NPP, to have Jewel move up the ranks and bring another loyalist to the number two slot. Did Weah carefully calculate the risks of his holy alliance with Jewel and the NPP? Never trust anything or anyone associated with Charles Taylor.
But this alliance should also mean sleepless nights for The Sirleaf Clan. There is a bitter family feud between the Sirleaf and the Taylor Dynasties. Taylor stabbed Ellen in the back when he refused to adhere to the original Plan after target Samuel Doe was eliminated. Taylor got greedy and ran away with the gravy train. But in the end, the Iron Lady pulled out one of her last cards that made Taylor to pay the ultimate sacrifice of life behind bars while the Sirleafs reap the rewards of Taylor's sweat and blood.
But Taylor, the Master Tactician may be down but don't count him out, at least not yet. For where there is life, there is hope. And Taylor is saying his prayers from jail. God hears even the cry of the Devil. Good luck to the George Weah-Jewel Taylor tag team, and I am sure Charles Taylor will be monitoring this crucial presidential election in Liberia from jail. Let the campaigning fireworks begin!
