Merger of The Liberian Leadership Conference and The Liberian Leadership Forum

The Liberian Leadership Conference and the Liberian Leadership Forum, organizations committed to representing the collective interest of Liberian political parties, civil society leaders and key opinion leaders, have decided to adopt a common approach in undertaking activities aimed at creating conditions for the rule of law, human and political rights and the future economic development of their country.

The Liberian Leadership Conference was established on June 29, 2002 in the Washington suburb of Bethesda, Maryland; and the Liberian Leadership Forum was launched on July 8, 2002, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The two built on the resolutions adopted at an ECOWAS sponsored Meeting in Abuja, Nigeria on March 14, 2002.

Given the common nature of the goals and ideals of the Liberian Leadership Conference and the Liberian Leadership Forum, and the course of action being pursued by them, the Leadership of the Liberian Leadership Conference, the Coordinating Committee of the Liberian Leadership Forum with its advisors agreed that the two institutions be merged into a single entity, design a unified strategy, pursue an openly pronounced common objective, and in that connection infuse into a common document the goals, ideals and objectives sought by them. A primary objective in this regard is to link and support similar courses of action of Liberians inside and outside the country.

The two institutions therefore further agreed that a working committee be set up immediately, comprising nominees from both institutions to work out the modalities of the merger. The Leadership of LLC and LLF anticipate that these activities will be consummated in the shortest possible time.
