June 14, 2004
The members of the Liberian Studies Association are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Dr. Mary Antoinette Brown-Sherman, former President of the University of Liberia.
Dr. Brown-Sherman was a noted Liberian educator and scholar. She was the first woman to serve as president of a national university in Africa. She was also a dedicated and committed member of the Liberian Studies Association and participated in many of the Association's Annual Conferences.
On behalf of the members of the Liberian Studies Association, I extend our deepest sympathies to her family and wish God's blessing upon them during this difficult time.
And may we never forget the contributions she made to Liberian higher education.
