The Late Madiba Mandela

Let us now speak of Mother Madikizela
Known as the Wife of Madiba Mandela
For as long as thirty-eight years
In all of the blood and tears
Through the struggle against apartheid
For the freedom that the Blacks never had
Suffering with Mandela imprisoned for twenty-seven years
Yet remaining hopeful with burning eyes of tears
That freedom for all will one day come
That freedom for all will become
What the People in struggle call Amandla
Truly, this is the People's Agenda
As the People struggle for justice
Against the greedy forces of injustice
Under the freedom umbrella
With Madikizela at his side
Rising above the apartheid tide
Remembering Mandela at ninety
What to remember remains plenty
Just your substance when we met
Inspiration galore never to forget
Now in the stars over South Africa
Now rest in peace Madikizela
Still working for justice in the South African Nation
The Spirit of Madikizela, Mother of the Nation
Yes, rest in peace Mother Madikizela
Right at the side of Father Mandela
Still inspiring the struggle to continue
In South Africa and every other venue
Until there is Justice for All
As this is the clarion call
To struggle for justice that brings peace
To bring lasting peace without cease

Monrovia, Liberia
April 2, 2018, when Madikizela died at age eighty-one.
