T. Max Jlateh, Others Destined to be Murdered by the Weah Government

T. Max Jlateh

According to information reaching The Perspective, the George Weah Government has designed plans to murder its critics, starting with T. Max Jlateh, Henry Costa, Rodney Sieh and Philip Wisseh.  President Weah considers his critics as enemies of the state. And as such, he has decided to liquidate the so-called enemies of the state. So, he has unleashed his ruthless thugs to prey on his perceived enemies.

It can be recalled that during the administration of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Weah’s predecessor, critics as well as whistleblowers were brutally murdered under mysterious circumstances.  In recent time, there has been a spate of killings in Liberia in the same fashion. There have been two mysterious killings linking to the missing 16 billion Liberian dollars and the 25 million United States dollars.  One of the lone voices in the wilderness, Representative Adolph Lawrence, was killed just a few days ago.  As if these killings were not bad enough, people within the inner circle of Weah have put together plans to kill his critics.  Not too long ago, Archbishop Isaac Winker, gave the thugs his blessings, urging them to kill as many Weah critics there are.

At the onset, President Weah made it clear that he was going to perpetuate Sirleaf’s legacy; and this is exactly what he is doing.  To date, the Liberian Government has not found the killers of Harry Greaves and Cllr. Michael Allison, among others. Some observers see this carnage as the beginning. If the government is linked to the killing of Representative Lawrence, it is safe to say that nobody is beyond the reach of the alleged state-sponsored ruthlessness.

Come to think of the emerging brutality, stories coming out of Liberia are very depressing.  If it is not corruption with impunity, it is Mafia-style killing.  Just a few days ago, Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh was unconstitutionally removed from the Supreme Court Bench through bribery of senators. Senator Prince Johnson, in collusion with President Weah, has put together a paycheck for Chief Justice Francis Korkpor to be a running-mate of President Weah in the next Presidential Election.  Observers also see the removal of Associate Justice Ja’neh as not only a recipe for rigging the next elections, but also an indication that all the three branches of the Liberian Government are in President Weah’s pocket. So, President Weah is virtually using the carrot and stick tactics to rule Liberia.

People have branded the Weah Government as a Southeastern Government due to the Southeastern ancestry of President Weah. But the killing of Representative Lawrence and the targeting of these journalists, most of whom have Southeastern sounding names, lays bare the falsity of the perception that the Weah Government is a Southeastern Government. It must serve as a warning to some Southeasterners and to other Liberians with parochial mentality that we must judge leaders by their behaviors and not their ancestry or ethnicity.
