Isaac T. Cla Russell

God is an awesome God whose ways are never known nor understood by Man. Isaac’s passing has solidified this in my mind and has shown how vulnerable the human body is in all aspects of life, in sickness, in good times and even in the worst of times. The bible says in all things, we should give thanks to God because it is the will of God and His ways are not ours.

It is with a very heavy heart that I write to bid farewell to a friend, a colleague and a fellow Marylander,  Mr. Isaac T. Cla Russell. He was an energetic organizer and a fierce fundraiser. Whenever Isaac got up to lead a fundraising effort, he performed his task with grace and vigor. No one left the room without making the smallest of donations. He made the cause so compelling and appealing that we were left with no option but to contribute. His love and commitment will be forever etched in our hearts and minds.

One of the last initiatives he took was to support the building of a second to none 21st-century modern rest stop in pleebo, first of its kind in the southeastern region of Liberia. As chairperson of this project committee, Isaac made several late-night calls to me to discuss this project. One of his last conversation with me was to seek my opinion on the shape of the dedication plaque that would commemorate the dedication of the building.

He said “Dr. Lamptey, I’m thinking of a circular shape, and during the dedication, I would really want for one or two representatives from NAMCAL to be present at the dedication. “what do you think?”  I could feel how proud and excited he was about the project.

Therefore, as chairperson of the Pleebo Rest Stop Committee, I have proposed to the NAMCAL Administration that the building, upon its completion, is renamed the “Isaac T. Cla Russell Rest Stop”.

I have also asked the contractor of the project to halt all work on the building on Friday, February 21st and Saturday, February 22nd in memorial observance of our late president.

I trust this proposal will meet the approval of the NAMCAL leadership team.

Rest in peace my friend, we love you, but God loves you best.

May light perpetually shine on you. Amen

Signed
Dr. Felicia Lamptey
Past President of NAMCAL and Chairman of the Pleebo Rest Stop Project Committee
