Barely 22 days of the Unity Party-led government of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has a Liberian lawmaker taken the President to task for practicing what he described as “nepotistic tendency.”

Nimba County Junior Senator and Co-Chairman on the Senate Security Committee Adolphus Dolo, made the statement recently at his Capitol Building office.

The statement of Senator Dolo stemmed from his fear that the president is appointing or nominating top security personnel he considered to be her confidants.”

Senator Dolo cited the appointments of Messers Fumba Sirleaf, (foster son of the president) and Momo Johnson (another relative) as Director of the National Security Agency and (NSA) and Deputy Immigration Commissioner as well as Brownie Samukai as Defense Minister. The Senator expressed fear that this might create another tyrannical rule which led to the country’s 15 years of bloodbath.

The Nimba lawmaker has expressed concern about the appointments of these individuals who are members of the first family although there are other qualified Liberians who could equally serve at these posts.

Senator Adolphus Dolo is a former general of the Government of Liberia (GOL) of exiled President Charles Ghankay Taylor now in Calabar, Nigeria.
