UPP, LPP Giants Brace Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf

Mrs. Sirleaf, who is the first presidential candidate to be cleared by NEC described the exercise as tedious but welcomed it. According to her this was necessary to make sure that those who are vying for the country’s highest post are law-abiding by paying their taxes.
On the issue of her assets, the UP standard-bearer said she has assets
worth over four hundred thousand United States dollars in the country.
NEC’s screening exercise is to ensure that presidential aspirants
do not enter the race fraudulently.
Meanwhile, the Liberia First Group comprising of former and current members
of the Liberian People’s Party (LPP) and the United People’s
Party (UPP) said it has given its support to the Unity Party of Madam Ellen
Johnson Sirleaf.
At a brief ceremony of the memorandum of understanding held at the UP’s headquarters yesterday, two officials of LFG Commany Wesseh and Dusty Wollokolle told a cross session of Unity Party members that the only way to discouraging what they called multiplicity of political parties and representation was “combining talented forces whose creativity and expertise could be used for the promotion that will uncover solution for Liberia’s reconstruction and reconciliation through a refined political party.”
LFG also said, multiplication of political parties and their representatives have confused and undermined the choice of registered voters in the up coming elections.
The group said it will work in unison and a high probability to providing a Liberia-hearted president in October.
