In the Wake of Freezone Corruption Saga: ULAA's Former Prexy Charged

The Judge of the Monrovia City Court, Milton D. Taylor, has issued writ of arrest for former President of the Union of Liberian Association in the Americas, Sam Mohammed Kromah and his former Comptroller of the Liberian Industrial Freezone Authority Michael Fortune.

According to the writ, Mr. Kromah as former managing director of Freezone and Mr. Fortune, a former comptroller, have been charged with misapplication of entrusted property.

Messrs Kromah and Fortune have for the past three weeks been going thorough preliminary investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Liberia National Police for their alleged involvement in misdirecting of two months salaries belonging to the employees of Freezone.

During the preliminary investigation, the two former Freezone officials admitted that they misused the November and December salaries of the employees.

According to police information, the suspended comptroller, Mr. Fortune, took delivery of the two months salary checks bearing number 13924 totaling USD 12,404.28 and reportedly hand delivered same to his former boss, Mr. Kromah.

Meanwhile, the Monrovia City Court has received a bond for the accused.
