Unity Party Standard-bearer, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, over the weekend dedicated the newly renovated John F. Bakalu Elementary & Junior High School in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The colorful ceremony which was held on the school’s campus, brought together citizens, educators and well-wishers who graced the occasion with several of them making speeches.

The renovation, which was spearheaded by the Women Association of Bong County, was made possible through the financial support of Mrs. Sirleaf.

During the program, Bong County Superintendent, Daniel Weetal, officially welcomed Mrs. Sirleaf by presenting to her kola nuts as a sign of traditional welcome to the city of Gbarnga.

Speaking at the program, Unity Party Chair Lady, Esthela Liberty, who is also President of Bong County Women Association, lauded the UP Standard-bearer for the level of support she has been rendering the people of Bong County. She said Ms. Sirleaf has been the major contributor to the renovated school project.

For her part, Mrs. Sirleaf thanked the women of Bong County for undertaking the project to renovate school for the education of Bong County’s future leaders, adding, “I am pleased to be part of the renovation project.”

She furthered that the involvement of the party in the renovation process was significant because “this is what the party believes and stands for. The party believes in development and empowerment of the people.”
