A member of the National Executive Committee of Free Democratic Party (FDP), Stephen Saysay, says FDP does not have any standard-bearer yet as it is being portrayed by some partisans.

According to FDP executive, “only convention determines the fate of any candidate who may wish to contest the standardbearership of Free Democratic Party come 2005 general elections.”

Mr. Saysay who made the pronouncement in Monrovia recently said, “No one person or group of individuals have the party’s constitutional mandate to declare any partisan as a standard-bearer.”

He advised presidential hopefuls within the party to be mindful of what he termed as “some gravy seekers whose intention is to rob them of their meager resources.”
Mr. Saysay further indicated that as far as the party is concerned, there are two presidential hopefuls whose fate has to be decided by the party convention for the standardbeareship.

Meanwhile, the FDP executive has warned the general public and media agencies accepting statements from FDP’s officials not to refer to Mr. Fahat as standard-bearer of FDP.
