The National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), is to
soon take stringent measures to deal with delinquent companies and businesses
that fail to make remittance to the corporation as required by law.
According to the Director-General of NASSCORP, L. Orishall Gould, many entities
and Liberian owned businesses that are registered with the corporation were
reneging on remitting their conservation to the corporation, which is their
responsibility.
Mr. Gould said, management has observed with disbelief that some entities
only focus on reducing their payrolls thus paying the net instead of the gross,
something he termed as being “wrong.”
The NASSCORP boss who spoke to The FORUM recently during an exclusive interview
at his office in Sinkor, said it could be wise guess for him to give reason
why these entities were doing so, but as he put it, “Some people just
don’t care to pay.”
He said because the scheme was designed by the National Social Security
law to protect the ensured employees, NASSCORP will be very vigilant to
go after these delinquent entities to remit their conservations.
