ADRA To The Aid of War-wearied Liberians

The Adventist Development Relief Agency(ADRA), has announced a six-month planned program aimed at bringing relief and smiles on the faces of thousands of war-wearied Liberians in three counties.

Already, ADRA has started implementation of the project ranging from Emergency Community Revitalization; Children of Liberia Assistance Program; Development aid Project Emergency Assistance to IDPs in Liberia, and Emergency Clothing Program for IDPs, among others, on a preliminary basis which will cover Montserrado, Bomi and Margibi counties.

Addressing reporters Friday, Mr. Cooper Mykers, ADRA’s acting Country Director, said under the emergency community revitalization program, there will be distribution of mats, blankets nets, utensils, drugs, and clean-up campaigns, while under emergency clothing program, there will be distribution of used clothes to 50,000 IDPs.

He said the Development Aid Project will include distribution of household items, tarpaulin, cooking pots and basins among others.

Mr. Mykers said the programs will be funded by donors including ADRA Network, ADRA International, ADRA Germany and ADRA Denmark/Danida.

Meanwhile, the clean-up exercise starts today at the Monrovia City Hall.
