NTGL To Support County Resource Center

The NTGL has expressed its support for the County Resource Center project to be initiated in the 15 counties of Liberia.

This assurance was made on Thursday, April 29, 2004 by the Deputy Minister for Sectoral and Regional Planning at the Ministry of Planning & Economic Affairs, Mr. Edward Y. Sali, during a NTGL/UN assessment of the site at the proposed Montserrado County Resource Center in Cheesemanburg, Montserrado County.

The Cheesemanburg site when completed is expected to train over 600 ex-combatants in local building materials production skills and civil reconstruction works techniques.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Sali is calling on Liberia’s development planners to initiate more program for the DDRR so that ex-combatants can become useful and productive members of their communities. He thanked the U.S. Government for giving the DDRR more attention.

Dep. Minister Sali used the occasion to thank UNDP for sponsoring the project.
LRRRC will be the main NTGL implementing partner of the project which has MPEA, UNMIL, UNDP, UN-HABITAT as other partners.

In another development, Deputy Planning Minister Edward Sali has received profound commendation from the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia, for efficiently coordinating the itinerary of the Chinese assessment team that recently departed the country.
