Dozens of Additional Appointments In Government

The Executive Branch of the National Transitional Government(NTGL), has continued
to take shape as the relevant stakeholders make nominations to fill their
respective slots as allotted by the recently signed Accra peace accord.
Mr. Sekou Damate Conneh in an exclusive interview with our reporter on Monday
in Tubmanburg made 25 additional nominees including Charles Bennie, Commissioner
of Customs & Excise, Ministry of Finance; George Taweh Kiadii, Deputy
Director-General for Broadcasting, Liberia Broadcasting System(LBS); Edwin
K.Gaylah, Deputy Managing Director for Operations, Liberia Electricity Corporation
(LEC); Paul Thomas, Deputy Managing Director for Operations, Forestry Development
Authority (FDA), and Morris Liberty, Assistant Minister for Operations, National
Security Agency.
Also named by the LURD boss are: Jurial Sannah, Assistant Minister of Defense
for Public Affairs; Edward Sali, Deputy Minister for Sectoral and Regional
Planning, Ministry of Agriculture, and Joseph Nyumah, Assistant Minister of
Land Transport for Operation, Ministry of Transport.
Others are Armah Sannoh, Deputy Minister for Urban Affairs, Ministry of Internal
Affairs; Dwanah Kamara, Assistant Minister for Administration, Ministry of
Internal Affairs; Philip Manyeah, Assistant Minister for Operation, Ministry
of Internal Affairs; Alhaji Sekou Fofana, Port Manager, National Port Authority
(NPA); Michael Nayou, Deputy Minister; Cllr. Jenkins K. Z. B. Scott, Deputy
Minister for Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Lasana Sesay, Inspector
General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Soriba Kamara, Assistant Minister
for International Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Besides Chairman also named Mr. Henry K. Marvie, Deputy Minister for Administration,
Ministry of Health and Social Welfare; for the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr.
Conneh named Wallace Boah, Assistant Minister for Livestock, Fishery; Sekou
Kanneh, Assistant Minister for Administration, Ministry of Commerce and Abraham
Kromah, Inspector General.
Mr. Ansu Dolley was named Assistant Minister for Civil Aviation, Ministry
of Transport; Sheikh Kaitamba, Assistant Minister for Labor Standard, Abass
Kanneh, Assistant Minister for Trade Union Affairs, Ministry of Labor.
Mr. Peter L. Solo was nominated as Director of the Cabinet, while Mr. Christopher
Bowah was named Assistant Minister of State for Presidential Affairs.
Sam Mohamed Kromah was named Managing Director, Liberia Industrial Free Zone
Authority(LIFZA), Abraham Brown, Deputy Executive Director, LRRRC, and Samson
Gwein, Deputy Managing Director for Operations, RIA (Roberts International
Airport).
In a related development, this paper has reliably learnt that in accordance
with the Joint Technical Committee meetings held by political parties and
civil society organizations, the group’s nominations have been forwarded
to the office of NTGL Chairman Gyude Bryant.
According to our sources, the nominations made by civil society organizations
include for the Liberia National Police(LNP), Losay Kendor, Director; Edwin
S. Gbusseh, Deputy Director for Training; Comfort Howe-Flomo, Asst. Director
for Operations, and Edwin Mennoh, Asst. Director, Deputy Commandant for Planning,
Research and Curriculum Development.
Our sources disclosed that for the Ministry of National Security are: Margarette
B. Broh, Deputy Minister for Administration; Anthony K. Souh, Assistant Minister,
Economic for Crime.
For the National Bureau of Investigation(NBI) our source revealed that Anthony
D. Kromah has been nominated as Director.
For the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization(BIN), according to our source
are: Ernest J. Torborh, Deputy Commissioner for Administration; Atty. Abraham
Fahnbulleh, Deputy Commissioner for Naturalization, and Philip P. Norrington,
Asst. Commissioner for Naturalization.
There has been some friction between Civil Society and the Liberian National
Law Enforcement Association(LINLEA) on the nomination to fill slots within
the security apparatus.
The LINLEA prexy, Cecil Griffiths noted that since law enforcement should
not be politicized, they suggest that everyone should apply and they would
jointly vet and select to fill the law enforcement positions. They in that
submitted a list in its entirety to the Chairman of Civil Society, Saah Philip
Joe.
Nominated according to our source at the National Lotteries is Digor A. Fahnbulleh,
Deputy Director for Administration; Emmanuel A. Tulay, Deputy for Research
and Training, Rubber Development Unit.
At the Ministry of Gender and Development, Dr. Evelyn Kandakai has been nominated
as Minister though other reports said she has been retained at the Education
Ministry where Dr. Thomas G. Koon, according to our source, has been nominated
as Minister with James A. A. Morris as Deputy Minister for Instruction, and
Joshua F. Sammy as Deputy Minister for Administration.
At the National Housing and Savings Bank, Richard Foko was nominated as Vice
president for Operations, while two persons have been nominated for the position
of General Manager of the Domestic Airport Authority. They are John G. S.
Davies, and James Sellu Lomoi.
At the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Moses Zayee has been nominated as
Deputy Administrator, while at the National Archives, Shadrach Maimba Kanneh
has been nominated as Deputy for Operations.
For the National Oil Company, according to our source, Augustine J. Zaizay
has been nominated as Vice president for Administration, and Jacob Sandikie,
as Vice president for Technical Affairs.
