The Board of Directors of the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA), has be reconstituted with the setting up of an interim leadership. The LMA board, according to a resolution adopted September 10, 2003 among other things cited political interferences as the reasons for their action.

The resolution, copy of which is in the possession of this paper, points out that despite the fact that the LMA has remained committed over the years to the attainment of its purpose, there have been serious interferences from various governments of the Republic of Liberia relative to the working of the association with the view to subjecting members of the LMA to the whims and caprices of the power-that-be.

The board accused exiled former president Charles Taylor of manipulating the LMA when he in 1998 forced the then president, Robert S. Kollie to resign and replaced him with Martha Saye.

As a result of this, the LMA board was on September 10, reconstituted with the election of Mr. S. Taweh Brapoh, Sr. as chairman, replacing Madam Marie K. Washington whom the board accused of several violations of the constitution and by-laws of the Association.

Others elected were Martha Z. Saye, co-chairlady; Arthur Yah, Co-chairman; Peter B. Juah, Speaker; Timothy H.N. Hinneh, Secretary, and Jonathan Tugbe, member. Others include Comfort Jarsor, Tamba Suah, Robert S. Kollie, Jerry V. Geedeh and Elsie Nyahn who are all members of the 23 members Board of Directors of the LMA.

The LMA board also dissolved the leadership of Martha Saye as president of the Association, replacing her with Mr. Timothy Hne Hinneh as interim president.

Others elected were Gbalee Freeman vice president/administration; Larwon Larmouth, vice president/trade, investment and agriculture; Augustine T. Moore, secretary and Emmanuel Darkoma, comptroller.
