New Appointment In Unity Party

The opposition Unity Party of iron-lady Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has made fresh appointment within the youth wing of the party.

According to information gathered, the Executive of the Youth Wing of the party has appointed a frightened Liberia youth and political figure as Chairman of the National Youth Wing. He is Mr. Martin S. Kollie.

Mr. Kollie whose appointment took immediate effect come in the wake of the departure of the former chairman of the Youth Wing from the country.

The appointment which is in line with the nation’s foremost opposition party constitution has been endorsed by the entire executive of the Youth Wing.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kollie in a interview with The INQUIRER said his first priority focuses on reconciliation among the youth and to make sure that the youth hold together.

“It is time that we hold together”, Mr. Kollie noted, saying that now the nightmare has been removed. He also added that as soon as the peacekeepers deploy throughout the country and security essential improved, the youth wing will be moving into the various political subdivision of Liberia to make their presence felt.

“We are already but would want to re-enforce our presence there”, the newly appointed added, saying that the chances of the Unity Party are clear and come 2005, the party will be a high contender in the electoral process.

Mr. Kollie is commending the “Group 8" for their support to Madam Sirleaf during the race for the Chairmanship of the transitional government of Liberia.

Mr. Kollie who joined the UP since 1997, has served in several capacities including co-chairman for Administration, District Chairman and member of the Ways, Means and Finance committee. All the positions are on the youth level.
