The People's Power Association says, it is profoundly alarmed by the chaotic situation in Liberia which has resulted to a humanitarian catastrophe, hence wants the international community to intervene urgently.

The pro-democracy group, in a release said thousands of innocent civilians are dying as a result of the persistent rebel attacks on the country and the international community wasn’t doing anything substantial to stop the wanton destruction of lives and properties.

The group expressed frustration over the plight of the suffering masses which they claim was being ignored, and said the Liberian people were dying simply because some selfish pseudo politicians want state power outside of the democratic process.

PEPA is calling on the International Contact Group (I.C.G) to take practical actions and hasten its efforts to bring the Liberian government and belligerent forces to the negotiating table so as to end the conflict immediately. The Group emphasized that the Liberian people want peace urgently at all cost and the ICG would make history if it took realistic steps to restore peace to the country.

Meanwhile, the People's Power Association is commending the Liberian Women for their current efforts in search of lasting peace and is calling on every well-meaning Liberian to join the women in expressing their opposition to the war.

PEPA said, action of the women demonstrates that the Liberian people desire peace most and everything must be done to broker peace between the Government and the rebels.
