In keeping with the ECOWAS facilitated Accra Peace Accord for Liberia, Police
Director Paul Mulbah on Wednesday turned over his gavel of authority to Senior
Inspector Col. Edward Kitson-Thomas.
Director Mulbah said, he was turning over to the Senior Inspector of Police
who will act as Officer-in-Charge until a new Director is appointed, a release
said.
Speaking during a ceremony at the National Police Headquarters, Director Mulbah
said although he was leaving, dynamism must continue to exist as an institution.
According to a release, Col. Mulbah who turned over along with all other presidential
appointed officers, to include Deputy and Assistant Directors urged those
remaining to close ranks and work in the interest of the public.
He said he was leaving not because of weakness nor inefficiency, but in keeping
with the peace accord which seeks to restore peace in the country.
He then congratulated his colleagues for cooperating with him during his tenure
as Director.
Concluding, Col. Mulbah further warned the Office-In-Charge and his men not
to engage in acts that will bring the organization to disrepute but to work
in conformity with its statutory responsibility.
Meanwhile, the release said, the appointment of Col. Thomas comes as a result
of chairman Bryant’s executive order Number One, which states that for
each Ministry or autonomous agency and commission, the most senior director
of similar official, in terms of tenure, within the department/bureau of administration
shall serve as head of the Ministry, agency or commission, as spelt out in
the Accra Peace Accord
