The LWSC’s 10 Urban Water Supply Systems were severely looted and vandalized during the 14-year civil war.
They are situated in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County; Sanniquellie, Nimba County; Voinjama, Lofa County; Gbarnga, Bong County; Greenville, Sinoe County; Harper, Maryland County; Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County; Kakata, Margibi County; Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County; and Tubmanburg, Bomi County.
Resulting from its recent decision, the LWSC management has embarked on working with the current leadership to keep environments of the outstations water systems cleaned.
To fully implement this exercise, the LWSC Outstations Manager, Mr. George Jallah who deputized the LWSC Managing Director Roger B. Woodson, at the weekend, traveled to Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County to present an assortment of working tools and food for work to the Superintendent of the county, Mr. Amos B. Kiawu.
Presenting the tools on behalf of LWSC Management, Mr. Jallah challenged the county leadership to work in concert with management to preserve the water supply system which had suffered devastating impact of the civil war. Responding, Superintendent Kiawu thanked LWSC management for the tools and assured that they would be used for the purpose intended.
He later turned the tools over to the Development Superintendent, Mr. M. Abdurahman Kiazolu and Robertsport City Mayor, J. Edwin Korba, and called on them to mobilize working team to brush out the grass on the plant compound.
Management is currently seeking donor assistance for rehabilitation or leasing of the outstations water supply systems to assure the provision of safe drinking water for the rural dwellers.
The tools presented included 10 cutlasses, 10 files, five whippers, three rakes, four hoes, one wheelbarrow and five bags of rice.
