There comes a time in a person’s life when he or she feels a strong urge to do something that is driven by social conscience. The March on May 8, 2003, was a first for a few of us, but the participants represented a cross-section of Liberia. The ambition to better unite ourselves in future protests is a thriving force, and we will prevail.
The Organizing Committee extends its thanks and appreciation to all peace-loving Liberians who took out time from their busy schedules to come out to call for the timely release of all illegally detained Liberians and for an end to human rights violations. To those of you who were willing but unable to attend, we say ‘next time’.
We apologize to all that would have loved to attend the march but did not hear about it. Getting the word out with the hope of mobilizing more people is a top priority. We depend on all Liberians and Friends to help spread the word in the future.
The participants were moved by Mr. Hassan Bility’s heartfelt speech. He called for Liberians to unite themselves and to seek democratic freedoms.
Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe, a renowned civil rights activist, also shared his experiences and reiterated the need for true democracy in our beloved Nation.
We were also honored by the presence of Mr. Mohammed Kromah, President of ULAA. His message of unity and togetherness was well absorbed.
We want to extend a special thank you to Rev. Napoleon Devine for his words of inspiration. We are certain that he will be with us, in person, during our next March.
May God/Allah richly bless and give them (and every Liberian) the strength to continue spreading the word that ‘Enough is Enough!’
